Blossoms

There are some stunning specimens aren't there? What has struck me watching my magnolia tree blossom and fall within a couple of weeks is that flowers don't last.

My back garden has a carpet of pink petals which sure enough will shrivel up into brown curls, be swept up and put in the green bin.

It's made me think about how nothing last for ever and that change is an important part of life.

Aparigraha, is one of the yamas in the yoga tradition which means non attachment. Or letting go as nature so often reminds us.

But as with a lot of yoga philosophy it's more than that.

In some ways you have to be more attached, as in be even more present, to dig deep inside your soul to work out what stuff is important and what isn't. To let go of outcomes or end results.

We live in a world of greed and wanting more. To be content with less and live more simply is the true of aparigraha.

Kino MacGregor explains this in a short video if you want to learn more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZOsRcOTm_Q

When we practice yoga consistently, we tune into everything. To feel all the feels, whether its comfortable or not. (And most of you will know how I feel about going out of your comfort zone). This prepares us better for how we manage experiences in our lives.

It helps us to learn how to respond in difficult situations. To know when to protect ourselves against negative energy, or people who use or drain us. To not feel afraid to say no. And not feel guilty about doing so.

Learning from the blossoms - they come back. And sometimes you have to wilt and die in order to regenerate, grow and bloom again.

This week my sister shared a regret of not crossing the Big Sur in California a few years ago......

Make sure your life is full of "Can't believe I did that" instead of, "Should have done that".

Live for each day lovely friends, push yourselves, go outside your comfort zones, never say never.

Get ready to blossom. If not now. The time will come again.
