Shedding

Did you know that the average snake sheds it's skin 2-4 times per year? Younger snakes shed much more frequently than older snakes.

Unlike us their skin peels off in one piece.

The 29 January was the start of the Chinese New Year and the year of the Snake, specifically the Wood Snake. This marks a period of transformation, wisdom, and adaptability. The Snake is known for its intelligence, strategy, and charm, while the Wood element brings flexibility and creativity.

Also, this week you may have seen in the news many people tragically killed and injured crushed in crowds at the Maha Kumbh festival. Wednesday 29 January was a very spiritual day.

According to The Guardian, tens of millions of people flocked to the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to immerse themselves at the sacred confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers on one of the most auspicious days of the Hindu festival.

Apparently, at this time the point where these rivers meet has very special sacred energies. This particular 'Maha Kumbh' is a once a century experience and 144 years since the last one!

The Maha Kumbh is also linked to the positioning of the planets and this January six planets align in the night sky, which again is another very rare and significant event.

Whether we believe in any of this stuff or not, you can't argue that we as human beings are energetically connected to nature and the universe in some way.

Young women living together often synch with their menstrual cycles.

It is thought that when we live in alignment with the seasons, we feel more in harmony with ourselves and with nature.

So, if you're feeling a need to shed something, renew, realign or think outside the box it is no coincidence. I'm sure like me you're not the only one.

What I do know is that yoga helps us better connect with our true self.

Have a lovely weekend.
